Because of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God justifies us as a gift, and counts us to be as righteous as Jesus is Himself! (Ro 3:22-24) If that’s what it means to be justified, then that means it is just-as-if-I’d-never-sinned! Not that I have never sinned – for none of us are in that position; but it is just as if I’d never sinned.
That’s a good deal!!….
Now, if it’s true that it is just as if we’d never sinned, then that means that we are quite free to acknowledge when we have sinned. We can own up and take responsibility when we have failed or done wrong, ask forgiveness, and try to put right what we can. We can do this without fear or anxiety, because Jesus has justified us, and given us His righteousness; and, while we look to Him in faith, nothing can ever take these gifts away from us. This gives us the possibility to heal and restore all strained or broken relationships.
